Whom Shall I Fear

"The Lord is my light and my salvation- whom shall I fear?  The Lord is the refuge and fortress of my life- Whom shall I dread?" -Psalm 27

I have just finished watching the House of David, the new series on Prime.  Though the series does not depict every verse in the bible, it still fills you with hope and faith.  The storyline is there though, the writers have just filled in the spaces of what could have happened.

I would like to believe that Samuel was that funny.  He had me laughing through the whole season.   He was probably my favorite character, right next to David.

If you have not watched the series, I strongly recommend it.  There is so much passion in it, there is a ton of encouragement. As David walks out onto the valley to go up against Goliath his brothers stop him.  They ask him why he is not afraid.  He was honest and said he was.  But the uncommon courage that was upon him in the scene radiated through screen.  The anointing that was upon David could not be matched.   This anointing could only come from God.

Whom Shall I fear, God knows me

When he went before King Saul and told him he would go up against Goliath, David had such great conviction.  He said that this was his moment.  God had put him there for that moment.

We all have a place and moments that God has made specifically for us.  He has created us to be able to go up against the giants in our lives.  When we know that God has specifically called us to a task, we should not question the outcome.  When God calls us, he goes before us.  I believe that, just as the series depicts, God set in motion everything that day.  He would pick a ruddy shepherd boy to go up against the giant.  He would pick him out of all of his strong brothers to be king.  David knew God, so God knew him.  David put God first and trusted him, so God trusted him with such a task.  God picks the least likely because they are the ones that will stand out the most in His honor.

Whom shall we fear?  Whom shall we dread?  Fear might make itself known in this earthly body.  It might try to pierce our nerves as we step forward toward our Goliath.  It might try to bombard our thoughts as we face the unknown.  It might try to stop us in our tracks.  But fear is just a mirage.  The truth is the truth.  If God is for us, then who can be against us.  Whom shall we fear, then?
